Childbirth Education Class

Our private childbirth education classes offer the evidence-based information you’ll need to feel confident during birth and ready to make informed decisions that align with your needs and values. We give you the tools; you decide how and when to use them during your birth. Whether you’re seeking a private class for customization around your specific goals and needs, or to accommodate your schedule, we’re happy to help! This class is four hours long and the cost is $450 per family.

  • Stages/ Progression of Labor

  • Informed Consent & Advocacy

  • Common Interventions

  • Practice with Coping & Relaxation Techniques

  • Immediate Postpartum (e.g., The Golden Hour)

Please Note: Our Childbirth Education students receive 20% off the registration price for our Infant Feeding and Newborn Care Class. The discount code will be provided during the registration process. You must register for Childbirth Education first in order to receive the discount. This discount cannot be combined with the EmDo client discount and will not be applied, refunded, or credited retroactively. 

 

Birth Refresher Class

Our Birth Refresher Class offers experienced parents a chance to brush up on their knowledge about birth and comfort measures with the same evidence-based information you expect from Emerald Doulas. We’re here to help you feel confident and ready to greet your new baby, whatever your birth goals might include.

We also know that seasoned parents are especially short on time, so this class lasts just two and a half hours. The cost for a private Childbirth Refresher class is $337 per family.

Your Childbirth Refresher Class can Include: 

  • Previous Birth Experience Reflection & Processing

  • Physiology of Birth Review

  • In-Depth Look at the Stages of Labor

  • Differences between First Births and Subsequent Labors

  • Common Interventions & Medication Options

  • A Discussion on Informed Consent

  • Practice with Coping & Relaxation Techniques

 

VBAC Prep Class

Planning for a vaginal birth after a cesarean (VBAC) can be a complex work. This class will help you feel prepared with evidence-based information and equip you with all the tools and skills you'll need to rock your VBAC! The cost for a three hour private VBAC Prep Class is $375 per family.

During this class, our expert educator will guide you through the following topics:

  • Birth Story Processing

  • A short childbirth education refresher, including comfort measures for birth

  • VBAC in the Triangle and finding a supportive care team

  • Evidence-based VBAC statistics and safety information

  • Writing a Birth Guide/ Plan for your upcoming birth with consideration for…

    • commonly experienced physical and emotional hurdles,

    • and "gentle" and family-centered cesarean birth options.

  • Spinning Babies “3 Balances” Practice
